Busy bees

Kate is busy in the office this week, gearing up for the start of field survey on Monday (10th April). We are overlaying onto the modern map of the area information on all known archaeological sites derived from the Lake District Historic Environment Register (HER); kindly provided by the LDNPA. Next Kate will add any sites visible on the historical Ordnance Survey maps. The aim is that we have a list of possible archaeological site for each block of woodland which we can then 'ground truth' in the field once the survey starts.

This information will give us a starting point but hopefully there will be plenty of other currently unknown sites which we can add. All in all it looks to be a promising 4 weeks of survey. Let's just keep fingers crossed for the weather now!
